"If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away." - Thoreau
I caught the fire for missions early on as I worked alongside my family to reach the Alangan of Occidental Mindoro, Philippines. As I grew up, God showed me the tremendous need of Christ in the more than 6,600 unreached people groups. About 7 years ago, God began to convict me specifically that He wanted me to be His agent to reach the Highland Batangan, which is the next tribe South of the Alangan on the island of Mindoro.
In September of 2011 I launched to the Batangan. The tribe has taken extreme measures to keep all outsiders out. Six months after arriving on the island, with the help of numerous Alangan church leaders, I was able to move into a lowland Batangan village. The language and culture of the lowland Batangan has become quite mixed with the lowland Filipinos, but this village will give me the start on language and culture learning that I need as I continue to press into the highlands.
Please pray for the Batangan and I. We depend on your prayers daily!
